Job interviews can be intimidating, no matter how many you’ve been on in the past. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to ensure you have a great interview and land the job. If you are interviewing for a warehouse position, try implementing the following strategies during the interview:

Dress a Step Above

Before you attend your interview, you will want to be sure your clothes are free of any stains or wrinkles and are appropriate for the occasion. Some people are allergic to perfume, so it is always a good idea to avoid wearing strongly scented perfumes or lotions. When choosing an outfit for the interview, select one that is a step above what you would normally wear to the job.  For a warehouse position, a nice pair of jeans, polo and clean shoes will do the trick. Be sure to wear dark or neutral colors such as black, white, brown, gray or dark blue.

Research the Company Beforehand

Before the interview, it would be a good idea to learn as much as possible about the company you want to work for. Many employers ask the question “What do you know about us?” and it is always a good idea to have an answer ready. Peruse the company website to learn about the company’s values, vision, culture and ideal type of employee. This will prevent you from being blindsided by any questions.

Practice Answering Common Questions

Practicing for an interview may seem like a strange idea to many jobseekers, but when you are interviewing for a warehouse position, the interviewer will probably ask you certain questions. Be ready to answer the following questions:

  • How did you hear about us?
  • What is your greatest strength or weakness?
  • Describe a time when you went beyond what was expected of you?
  • Would your previous job hire you again?

Prepare an acceptable response to common questions before the actual interview.
